Why do some guys get soft during sex?

Q.
Why do some guys get soft during sex?
A.

Hi there, thanks for your question.

Guys need to get an erection (hard penis) to be able to have sex (intercourse) with a woman. They also need to keep this erection during sex.

A guy's penis will become erect when he is sexually excited, or when his penis is being pleasured (e.g. touched). The stiffness of an erection happens as the muscles in the penis fill with blood, which makes the penis erect.

Often, once a guy has orgasmed (or cum), he might find it difficult to keep his erection. This is because the blood might not be in the muscle tissue anymore. This is completely normal. However, if he is having sex with a woman at the time, she might find it frustrating, especially if she hasn't yet orgasmed herself yet.

If you are having sex with a guy and he goes soft (loses his erection), it doesn't mean he doesn't like you or that there is something wrong with the sex you are having. What it does mean is that more energy should be put into foreplay so that you are almost at the point of orgasm when you start to have sex. Then it won't matter if he goes soft during sex because you will both hopefully have already orgasmed. Remember to use a condom every time you have sex to protect yourself and your partner from STIs, and from unintended pregancy.

Hopefully this has helped.
