Please stop while you're ahead of heroin. Don't let it ruin your life!

I can't express how deeply I feel about this. My husband was addicted to heroin from the age of 13. He started shooting it up when he was 18! He is now 26 and still using. He has been in and out of jail coz of it. He was brought up around it and was born addicted to it.

I had no sympathy for him at all until the day i tried it and from then i have been addicted---for 2 years now. Not one day went by without me getting more than 1 hit. My habit was so big i was using just under a gram a day. I owed 1 dealer over $3k and another $5k.

My life has been turned upside down. I have been addicted to every drug but nothing compares to heroin. You think it is hard to quit smoking cigarettes or weed. No! Pills, ice or coke may be hard but so easy compared to heroin. It's not that you want to keep using, it's that you get so sick and in pain you have to.

I would cry every day coz i didn't want to use but i was too scared to get help. I hid it from everyone---all my friends & family. I was living a secret life and it made me depressed as i am not this kind of person! I have seen so many people give up their lives, their morals, respect & family, even themselves for this drug and it's so sad.

Today I am 1 year clean and it was a very hard road I assure you! I never thought I could do it. I have a beautiful baby girl and she is healthy and happy! Having her reminds me why I rule heroin now and will not let it rule my life ever again!

If you get addicted (it is VERY easy) heroin will always be in your mind forever but if you don't let it, it doesn't have to be in your life forever! Don't worry if you relapse---just get back up and stay strong. Tomorrow is a new day and just remember every day without it you have moved a massive mountain.

Not many people can or want to understand heroin addicts and how it controls your life. Most people have no sympathy for them like I never used to. Until you are in the situation for yourself, you will never know or understand how hard a heroin addict's life is (though it is self-inflicted) even if it is explained to you.

I hate myself every day for who i let heroin turn me into but i forgive myself as now i have done something about my problem.

If you cannot stop using on your own please seek a programme and counselling if it is needed as relapsing is very easy! There are many rehabs or clinics you can go to. There is even one you can go to if you have kids (this one helps you to become a better parent as well). There are different medicines to go on.

If you want to get clean and decide to get help just be honest with the staff so they can help you to their best knowledge. If you do decide to get clean WELL DONE!!! Don't be hard on yourself as it does take a lot of courage, so be very proud of yourself---you have taken one of the biggest steps involved! Keep your strength up & don't ever loose respect for yourself! YOU CAN do if YOU WANT to!
