At what age do you stop growing?

Q.
Hi i'm 13 the average height but i'm fat. My mum said i will just grow into it but i'm not too sure i will. At what age do you stop growing?
A.

Hi there. Although it's different for everyone, most girls usually reach their full height within 1–3 years after their first period. Guys on the other hand will reach their full height around the end of their puberty. Girls generally reach their full height at a younger age than guys because they usually begin puberty at a younger age.

The Body Mass Indicator (BMI) is a widely used tool that looks at height and weight measurements, to give a general indication if weight falls within a healthy range. If you want to get a rough idea of whether your weight is considered healthy for your height then you could type your height and weight details into the calculator linked to below.

Remember though that the BMI is only an guide, so if you are worried about being overweight then you should see your doctor for further advice. The best way to keep to a healthy weight is by eating a variety of healthy food and doing regular exercise. Take care.
