This guy won't stop texting me and keeps calling then hanging up. I really don't know what to do anymore!

Q.

I don't know if background info would help, but i just turned 15. I've been in a relationship for a few months with a good friend of 2 years and i live in a small town where everyone knows everyone.

Anyways, my problem is that this guy won't stop texting me and keeps calling then hanging up. I didn't recognise the number and thought it was my boyfriend's friend who we had been hanging out with earlier, so i was talking to him and wasn't scared. But then he started to just say stupid shit, and "daring" me to do stuff so realised it wasn't him.

When i asked if this was actually who i had thought it was he told me his name. I've seen him sitting in the parking lots in his car alone all the time, and my boyfriend knows him. My bf wants to beat the shit out of him which i can kind of understand but is still unreasonable to actually DO in any situation. Some people are saying he's got special needs, but in my eyes that doesn't excuse this in the least! Plus he's like 26.

I've told him to leave me alone, i've tried ignoring him but he just calls more often and my phone's always ringing. I can't figure out how to block a number either. I really don't know what to do anymore! I don't want him to get physically hurt or anything—that's ridiculous—but nothing i can do seems to be working.

I find it odd that there are no harassment questions on here directly relating to texting or the internet, and i would really appreciate any advice!

A.

This must be a difficult situation for you and a bit scary. The law in relation to harassment, stalking and multiple telephone calls varies from place to place. I'm not sure which country you live in so I don't know exactly what your options are.

However, you should not have to put up with being harassed. Get someone to show you how to block a number on your phone. Find someone you trust, preferably someone who doesn't want to "beat the shit out" of the guy, and talk about the situation.

I would also suggest you call your phone carrier and see if they can help. If the situation gets worse I think you should talk to the police about harassment and also stalking. Take care.
