The tip of my foreskin is red and when it isn't erect it appears swollen. Also there is a very small (like 1–3mm) area that is red on the edge of the hole at the end of my penis (sorry don't know the correct name).
I clean my penis correctly every day and I am a little worried because it has been like that for a while. Is something wrong? Am I sick?
Hi mate and thanks for your question. Without examining you it's tricky to tell if there is anything wrong with your foreskin and penis or not.
If you have not done anything sexual with another person then it will not be a sexually transmissible infection (STI). In this case, if there is something wrong, it's most likely to be a skin irritation or allergy. The skin of the penis and foreskin is like skin anywhere and can become dry and irritated or can have an allergic reaction to something such as soap.
You say that you are washing correctly every day, which is great, but if you are using soap this may be causing the problem. Soap can be irritating as well as drying to skin. Try to wash your penis with water only for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If it does not settle, it may be dryness so you may want to use a moisturising wash, such as sorbolene cream or lotion (available at a chemist or supermarket, and pretty cheap). Sorbolene is commonly used instead of soap for all over the body and no one will think anything of it if you buy it or have it in the shower.
If it still doesn't settle, or gets worse, you may need to see a doctor to make sure everything is okay. It may be a skin irritation that needs medical treatment.
For more information about what is normal for penises, I've given you a good website below. All the best and take care.
