Does this mean I need to lubricate before I masturbate?
Hi and good on you for writing in.
Masturbation is normal and is an important way to learn about your body. Masturbation should feel enjoyable and pleasant, so if your penis is hurting then yep it may be a good idea to try lubrication. You can get lubricant from supermarkets, chemists or local youth centres. Some guys also try creams, like Vaseline, or their own saliva.
You can also try rubbing the penis in different ways, like up and down the shaft, as opposed to rubbing the head. Try to take your time and don't be too rough. Find a private place like your bedroom or bathroom and slow it down. Feeling anxious or rushing it can lead to hurting yourself or not enjoying the experience.
Before ejaculation, it is common for a small amount of sticky clear fluid to leave the tip of the penis. This is known as "pre cum". When a guy ejaculates, fluid called "semen" comes out of the hole at the end of the erect penis. Semen is often a whitish, milky colour. Both of these fluids are normal, however if you want to reduce the friction caused by rubbing skin on skin, lubrication may be your best option.
