I have big boobs but my nipples never got bigger. Is this normal? Will I be able to breastfeed?
Hi, this feels like a really weird question, but I'd really like to know.
I have really big boobs (20G) but my nipples never got bigger, like at all. They look the same as a kid's! Plus I don't have that darker rim around them. Well, I kinda do—it's massive & takes up like half my boobs—but it's hardly a different colour at all.
Is this normal? And will I be able to breastfeed when I'm older with such small nipples, because I really want kids!
Hi. It's good to ask questions when something is bothering you.
Since you have big boobs, you need to make sure you have good-fitting bras for support that don't cut into your shoulders or give you back ache. This is even more important when you are pregnant or breastfeeding because boobs tend to get bigger then.
You will find the circular area around the nipple (the areola) will get darker as you get older and when you are pregnant. The size of nipples doesn't matter too much. Nurses and midwives would help you get started with putting your baby to the breast and once they latch on, their sucking makes the size and shape of the nipple bigger. So don't worry, it'll all be fine.
It's great that you want to breastfeed because it is the best start for the baby and helps mothers get their body shape back too! All the best.
