Q.
I'm 14 yrs old and for the last 2 years my height is about the same. Will i grow any taller? My height for the last 2 years is 158cm.
A.

Hi and thanks for asking us. It sounds like you are concerned about your height and may like to be a bit taller.

You may feel shorter than your friends but 158cm is a fairly average height, even for some fully grown women.

At 14 you are still growing and developing. You may have noticed some changes to your body, such as wider hips, breasts, pubic hair and underarm hair and you may have started getting your period too. These, along with growing taller, are all a part of puberty.

Young women don't usually finish fully growing and going through puberty until about 18. Guys continue to grow and develop up until about 21. That means you still have a few years where you may grow taller. Sometimes we just grow a centimetre or 2 and may not even realise that we have gotten taller. Teenagers usually experience growth spurts, which means that you may not have grown for a little while, then all of a sudden you shoot up and grow an extra few centimetres.

If you are really worried about your height, have a chat to a paediatrician (a specialist doctor who works with children and young people). From what you've said though, your growth and height sound pretty normal.

All the best.
