Q.

I'm too scared to take it further with my girlfriend. Help???

Okay, so I'm a girl, and I've been dating this other girl for almost 4 months now, and honestly we are both extremely socially awkward and shy. Neither of us has ever been in a relationship before and we don't really know what we're supposed to do next. We've never even made out. I don't want her to get bored with me, so can you give me some tips on what I can do to get her to kiss me?

A.

Hi there, good question. What's really good is that you have found each other and both of you feel something special for each other.

It's okay that you both feel a bit nervous and unsure—you can take it at your own pace. If you are feeling like girlfriends, you may start with a bit of touching (a stroke, a hand on the shoulder, or holding hands). Just relax and make sure you have some privacy.

Maybe it will be you who starts the first kiss. Make little steps forwards (getting closer physically, such as stroking) and just check out that it feels good for her too. There is no rush to be sexual—relax, enjoy and explore. It will all happen in its own good time.

Sometimes our first time of being sexual is with someone who is older and more experienced. Other times, it's like you and your girlfriend, being a bit shy and uncertain but you will work it out for yourselves. Two women together can do a lot of sliding and stroking, sucking nipples, using fingers and mouths on the clitoris and in the vagina. Given that you both could be somewhat isolated, the web can help you get information or contacts. For example, there's good information at the first 2 links below and there's a book for people 16 or older to download at the third.

Good luck!
