I just recently moved to Australia. I wish so badly that I had someone to lean on.
Hey I am 14 and I have only ever had a boyfriend once. He was an old friend who now lives in the USA. We caught up just recently on a website and got chatting. We started getting flirty and then we made it a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.
That worked out for a while, but it was really hard for me emotionally coz I could never see him or hold him. Eventually we agreed it was best to go back to being friends, although we still sign our messages with 'love'.
I am having a hard time at home lately, and just wish so badly that I had someone to lean on. I just recently moved to Australia, so my friends are quite new, and I am terribly missing my old ones.
There is a cute skater dude over the road and my parents are friends with his ones. He goes to my school and I've met him once but he's sooo shy. How can I hook up with him if I can't even talk to him? He has a twin sister but she has friends. I have a skateboard but he does really cool.
Hey there and thanks for getting in touch with us. It sounds like things are a bit tough for your right now. You've recently moved overseas away from your old buddies and are going through the process of making new ones, you've connected with an old friend online who you find it too hard to have a relationship with because of the distance AND you kinda like your skater dude neighbour but he's incredibly shy! You've got a lot of stuff going on!
Firstly, thanks to technology and Skype and the likes, the world is not as big a place as it used to be. You can get online and see your old friends. It's sooo much better that just talking to someone over the phone to be able to actually see them. Your old friends will always be there but I know it's hard not having them actually physically there. I moved from Scotland to Australia when I was 11 years old and it was really tough saying goodbye to friends and having to kind of start all over again and make new friends.
Now this is just a guess, but I'm guessing you're not shy right? I say this because you've said your cute skater neighbour is shy and you haven't said you are. So, I think you should just go for it, be yourself and try and make some conversation with him. You've already got skating in common so you can start by talking about that. Maybe you could ask him to teach you some moves? Tell him you think he's a good skater. That is the truth after all and guys love to get compliments! It might make help him feel a little less shy too!
Hang in there and try to keep the balance of staying in touch with your old friends who you can stay close to and making new friends—and new boyfriends! You are at a great age and the world is your oyster as they say! Good luck skater
