If you have to drink 8 glasses of water a day, can you drink tea instead?
I find it hard to drink so much water, and I drink a lot of tea, so is it sufficient to drink tea instead of water? Is drinking too much tea bad for you? I don't have my tea with milk or sugar, just straight.
Hey there, thanks for your question!
Yes, you can drink tea instead of water, but I'd only suggest replacing around 3 glasses of water with tea. Most tea has caffeine in it, unless you are drinking herbal tea. I would suggest mixing up the daily recommendation of 8 glasses, to give you variety and so you don't get bored of what seems like a never ending glass of water! Tea, herbal tea, water and fresh juice (juice in limited amounts due to the high sugar it has) are all great ways of hydrating your body.
The important thing about staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet is to do everything in moderation. Don't get too obsessed by it all. Like if one day you only drink 4 glasses or so of water, you will be okay! The odd soft drink here or there won't hurt you either, but you can't count a can of coke as a glass of water. You could count a soda water though. Try mixing 3 parts soda water to 1 part apple juice for a healthy, delicious and thirst-quenching drink. It's always harder in winter to drink as much water as in the hotter months, so staying hydrated by drinking hot drinks is a great idea.
