I've been more moody than usual. I've also been feeling really 'off'. Am i pregnant?

Q.

I've been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend for the past 6 months. About a week or so after we had sex, my boobs have been feeling really sore and heavy & i've been more moody than usual. I've also been feeling really 'off' and can't eat all my favourite foods because i feel like i'm going to vomit. Am i pregnant?

I don't know my due dates for my periods because i can't work it out, but i know it's around the end/start of the month.

A.

Hi, thanks for your question. If you have been having unprotected sex for the last 6 months then the chances are pretty high that you could be pregnant.

There are other reasons that you may be feeling really ‘off', however the symptoms you have mentioned can all be symptoms of pregnancy, especially that your boobs feeling heavy and sore and also feeling nauseated and fussy with certain foods.

You really need to have a pregnancy test and to find out how pregnant you are. Pregnancy is counted in weeks and is counted from the first day of your last period.

If you have a doctor you feel happy to go to then that is the best place to start. Otherwise you could go to a family planning or sexual health clinic if you are near one (check the services directory below).

I am not sure what your feelings are about a pregnancy. If you are planning to continue the pregnancy and parent, it's important that you talk to your doctor about health and care in pregnancy. If you are interested in adoption as an option and need information, have a look at the link below. If you are considering abortion, it is available in Sydney up until 20 weeks.

If you would like to talk to someone about your options, a family planning or sexual health clinic is a good place to go for that as well. All the best and take care.
