Ur late... u have pains every now and then... What does this mean?
Hi and thanks for your question. It sounds like you are having a few different problems at the moment that are worrying you. With your period being late, getting some pains and feeling sick at times there is a quite a bit going on for you.
There are a few reasons that your period may be late: periods can commonly be irregular at your age, stress can make periods late, certain medications or medical conditions can affect them, being underweight or exercising a lot can stop your period or make it irregular, and of course if you are having sex then you could be pregnant.
If you think that there is a chance that you may be pregnant then it's important that you get a pregnancy test as soon as possible. Pregnancy tests are available at pharmacies and you can do them yourself at home. However the best idea is to go and see a nurse or doctor and ask them to do a pregnancy test so that you can talk to them about what to do if you are pregnant or find out what else may be going on if you are not pregnant. You may also want to talk about sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and getting tested for them, as well as talk about contraception.
The best place to start is a GP you feel comfortable with, or to a family planning or sexual health clinic where you can get confidential and expert help. Have a look in the Somazone services directory (link below) to find a GP or clinic near you. All the best and take care.
