Hi there. First of all, yes I am aware that this question has already been answered:"What are the dangers and side effects of using ecstasy while using the antidepressant Avanza?"
I am soon to be taking Avanza to treat anxiety. Hypothetically speaking, if an ecstasy tablet WAS made purely of MDMA what would the side affects be?
I'd also like to know what the side affects of acid (LSD) would be whilst on Avanza - again IF they WERE made purely of LSD.
Thank you for your time. Warm regards, LTD.
A.
There are a number of potential side effects, the most worrying ones being with Avanza. Of these, the one that you are most likely to experience is also the most concerning: you could die.The cause is not exactly a side effect though. A side effect is an unwanted effect you have to put up with to get the results you are looking for. Since you take ecstasy to increase energy (adrenaline boost) and closeness (serotonin) and to change your mood (serotonin and dopamine enhancement) you should actually think of this as an interaction between drugs with related effects.
It happens this way: MDMA raises the levels of a number of chemicals in the brain and the nervous system, serotonin, adrelanine, dopamine and GABA are the principal ones. Avanza also activates these "neurotransmitters" but by different mechanisms. The combination does more than just add one neurotrasmitter rush to another: they multiply the effect expotentially. The result is potentially deadly, especially in the case of serotonin, with about 250 deaths recorded in 2005, the latest year I have data for.
This "serotonion syndrome" is an inevitable result of poisoning, which is what results when you overdose by adding ecstasy to antidepressants. It is only a question of whether you get enough of the combination to trigger the effect.
With excess levels of dopamine, adrenaline or GABA you are not so likely to get such toxic effects in the short term, but long term results are actually more likely, with low-level but lasting damage to the nervous system and the skeletal musculature a worry. Tremors (shakes), vision problems, memory and coordination issues, and an irreversible condition a lot like like Parkinsons Disease are all possible, but these symptoms only start to show up later in life, usually from regular use.
There is less research and clinical about using LSD with antidepressants. What we have is mostly based on the experience of people who have tried it themselves.
Unlike other antidepressants which are fairly consistently reported to noticeably reduce the effects of LSD, hallucinogens seem to be MUCH stronger in combination with Avanza (mirtazapine), so please be VERY CAREFUL! LSD is synthesized from "magic mushrooms" and at least one dangerous interaction has been observed with mirtazapine and 'shrooms, so you should really avoid hallucinogens while taking mirtazapine.
Hope that has been specific enough, but if more is needed please contact us again.
